COVID-19: Statisticians recommend national strategy for data collection and processing.

(Göttingen/Heidelberg, March 22, 2021): In the context of Covid-19, the German Statistical Association (DAGStat) recommends the development of a national strategy for data collection and processing. "Statistics and statistical models contribute significantly to political decision-making in pandemics," said Prof. Dr. Tim Friede at the presentation of the DAGStat statement in Göttingen today. Among others, representatives of ten universities and Destatis as well as representatives of the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM) collaborated on the 30-page paper.

Prof. Dr. Gabriele Doblhammer, Dr. Daniel Kreft and Constantin Reinke talk about their research on "Social differences in first-wave Covid-19 infections".
The focus is on the socioeconomic distribution of COVID-19 infections in Germany during the first wave. The researchers examined whether the risk for COVID-19 infection differs between regions depending on their socioeconomic characteristics. Listen to episode here
